Kristan Bromley raced to a 8th place in the final round of the FIBT world cup to secure a top six world cup final standing. Bromley finishes the top British male athlete in Skeleton for the 13th successive year.
"Today was slightly diappointing in that I coud not emulate the medal I won in St Moritz last week. This track is all about the fastest push and I was unable to match the start times of Martins Durkus (LAT) or Alexander Tretchnikov (RUS). I had one of the highest speeds of the day which proves that on tracks that are not so dependant on the start I have a great chance. I am delighted to have moved up from 10th place to 6th pace in the world rankings since the new year. This is showing we are hitting form and moving in the right direction as the Olympics approach.
This season has been all about positioning ourselves for Vancouver. I would like to thank everyone supporting the Bromley Formula Ice programme. Without the generous support and enthusiasm from our sponsors and supporters, both myself and Shelley would not be in this strong position. The recession has affected every single business in the UK to unprecedented levels and to receive support from businesses and industry during these difficult times emphasises the resolve, generosity and energy we have in the UK towards sport and athletes' quests to be the best.
I would also like to thank the team of support I have at the EIS in Sheffield, especially Mark Campbell our S&C coach and Derry Suter of Sheffield Wednesday FC who keeps my body in tip top condition."
